JERRY "JJ"
Jerry, or JJ, as he likes to be called was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoblastic lymphoma after an accident in Kindergarten led to the discovery of cancer in his knee. JJ received two years of chemotherapy at Duke Children's Hospital. His entire family worked together and hard to take care of JJ - driving him to Duke - sometimes up to three times in a week, helping him keep up with school, and being a strong system of support for him. They quickly lost their sense of a normal life.
When Get Stuff Done 4 KIDS found out about Jerry, we quickly inquired what we could do to bring a little joy to the Stone family. Since none of them had ever been to the beach, the family opted to spend a week at Myrtle Beach. They stayed at the Ocean Reef Resort in a suite overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. We provided spending money to make their trip complete. JJ and his family enjoyed the ocean, the indoor water park, Wonderworks and so many other fun things during their week away. However, the most important thing they enjoyed was their time together and all the smiles on JJ's face.

"Dear Get Stuff Done 4 Kids,
Thank you so much for sponsoring the Myrtle Beach Trip. We are so grateful and appreciate all the hard work and effort put into setting up the accommodations and making this vacation a complete success. This was one of the most memorable experiences of my son's life. I can't begin to express what your gift meant to me and my family.
But more than the monetary value, I so greatly appreciate the thought behind the gift. This time has been difficult for us, but knowing we have the support of people like you certainly helps. Our time at Myrtle Beach was one of the best we have ever had. Not to mention this was our very first time ever going to the beach...I just want to thank everyone who made this possible.
This vacation was something my son really needed to keep from thinking about the next doctor’s appointment, blood test, spinal tap, etc. I have not seen my family this happy in a while. This was as normal as it has been for the last two years. JJ and Printice were able to run and play and get as dirty as possible while loving every minute. JJ loved the water and thinks he’s a “Surfer Boy” now because he had a chance to ride the waves. He didn’t want this to end, he said, “Tell everyone Thank You and I want to live here”. Printice loved the sand as you will see in the pictures. My daughters and I loved absolutely everything. This was a time to remember as one we will never forget. One word to describe the vacation we had is “PERFECT”. Illness can be a burden at times but your actions have really lightened the load for me. This was something I wanted to do for my family now for such a long time but was unable to do...For that especially, I thank you. With the help of you and the foundation, I was able to go on a vacation with my family. A special “Thanks” to everyone for the wonderful vacation. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart.
Sincerely,
The Stone Family"
